Cash Cards Turkey

Hi, I will be holidaying in Turkey soon and was interested in applying for a pre paid cash card.

However, I have just been informed that they can only be used in countries that use the dollar or sterling. Is that correct?

If so can anyone recommend a way aorund this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Wallbash, thanks for your reply,I know ATM's are easily accessible but are you talking about pre paid cards or just normal credit cards?

    Cash Passport Globe

Check with your bank that they do not charge for topping up Prepaid cards.

If they do, consider applying for the Kalixa Card via TopCashBack in order to recoup the initial card issue fee. You can do the initial topup for this card up by Bank Transfer, therefore avoiding any charges that your bank may apply for using a debit card to topup.

This card is more suitable for larger cash withdrawals. The Globe card for smaller, more plentiful ATM withdrawals. You can also recoup 0.5% of your initial load to the Globe card by going via TopCashBack > Travelex > Globe card.
First topup has to be via Debit card. After this, both Debit Card or Bank Transfer is possible.

Again...thanks very much for taking the time to reply but, what I need to know is......can these cards be used in Turkey? Because I was under the impression that they can't.

You may be getting the mentioned cards mixed up with specific currency cards (eg Caxton Euro or Dollar cards).

With the Global type cards, the cash is 'held' in Sterling and converted to whatever curreency when you use it, with the Euro/Dollar cards the cash is converted when you load them and 'held' in Euro/Dollars (so even if you could use them for other currencies there would be yet another conversion charge).

I use a Caxton Global Traveller prepaid Visa card in Egypt without any problems so I am sure Turkey will be fine. My understanding is that you can use this anywhere apart from the Euro and the dollar regions (there is a charge to use it in the UK but free elsewhere). I found it cuts down a lot on my bank charges. It is free to obtain, take a look at http://www.caxtonfx.com

Wrong. You can use it anywhere. The Cash Passport Globe is better.
