LTSB Debit Card Fraud

Hi,
I will go into detail here.
Had £30,500 transferred from a bond account held with the Barnsley Building Society to my new LTSB account (less than a month old). Was called by LTSB romford branch (my branch) on Thursday to confirm where the money was coming from as they could see it was going to credit the account on Friday. Suggested I open a savings account which I did. Informed them that I wanted to withdraw 4000 in cash on the Friday so that was set up for me.
Wake up Friday morning, log onto internet banking to transfer some of the money to my new savings account but notice that i only have an available balance of £1,004.69 when it should be £30,504.69!
Call LTSB immediatley to be informed that their were 3x£5000, 4x£3000 and a £2500 debit card transactions pending to be taken from my account done on Friday between 3 and 5am. I told them it wasn't me but they said they couldnt do anything as the amounts hadn't actually posted to my account. They also told me that on their end it looked as if they had been declined and I could expect to see the funds re-credited to my available balance in a few working days. I went and withdrew the £1000 cash which was £3000 less than planned.
Low and behold today at about 7pm the transactions all post to my account and I am down £29,500. Call up lost and stolen get put through to debit card fraud and then to another fraud department. Tell them exactly what has happened and they cancel my card (god knows why this wasn't done before!) and say that they have filed a claim and that a form will come through that I need to sign and send back ASAP. I ask if I should go to the police and I was told not to.
I ask about getting the money back and she said that they will credit the account with the missing funds pending the investigation and that I should expect to see the funds back in my account by Wednesday this week.
Has anybody else had dealing with LTSB fraud and do they actually refund this money so quickly? I have read the FSA guidelines to my rights and they say that the bank must refund immediately unless they have proof that I did make the transactions myself or that I was negligent.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
John

It may be that someone is observing your account behaviour. Any suspicious "last login" dates with Internet banking? Change any telephone banking PINs too.0

I'm not sure what has happened as this account was only opened in mid November and this was the first substantial money that I moved into the account.0 -
This does seem extremely odd - had you yourself actually used the debit card on the account since you received it?0

How quickly do they put the money back into my account?0

Quick update.
Spoken to LTSB fraud team and they said that the missing £29,500 would be back in my account by the end of business today. Fair play to LTSB!0
