Credit Expert - ignoring emails to stop payments, WHAT CAN I DO?

Hi, I joined Credit expert 2 years ago as i wanted to find out what was stopping me from buying anything on credit. This was fine until i decided in February 2011 that i no longer needed it. I pay £6.99 a month and have emailed the relevant email address on a number of occasions stating that i wish to cancel my payments, giving the 1 months notice period required. I have however, had NO RESPONSE and in my last email have threatened legal action as i am unable to cancel the payment via the bank due to the way they have set it up. This is money i really can't afford to be loosing each month and would appreciate any help as to how i can stop this as i'm out of ideas other than to take them to court?
Many Thanks

The T&Cs say you need to call them to cancel. You should read these before making empty threats to 'take them to court' :)

So you have not yet sent them a real letter yet... just emails?

As you have never had a response to your emails, I would check the address you sent them to.

Anyway, time to send them a real letter... make it a letter before action giving the 14 days to do what you want them to do.
    Send it Recorded Delivery.

Have a look at the thread called something like READ ME FIRST PLEASE.
You will find sample LBAs in there, and also a pointer to Money Claim Online.

Probably best to do what Vuvuzela says first though.

I used them years ago, Free trial, I forgot then cancelled by phone. Easy no hard sell or anything.

    Surprised me to be honest.

  • They certainly try to make it difficult for you - ype in "cancel" or "terminate" into the FAQ box, and you won't find anything.

Their website says "customer services open 8-7 Monday to Friday."

If you try option 4 - cancel, at 6.40pm as I did, you are told the office is closed. Try any other option and surprise surprise, someone will answer your call.

So, after terse call with option 3, she kindly gave me a direct line to the cancellations team. It's:

    0800 561 0083 - only open until 6.00pm...

...the website won't tell you that.)

Well I had no trouble finding the following on their website...
7.1 If you choose to cancel your membership of a Experian CreditExpert Service, you may be entitled to receive a refund. If you have not paid a charge for use of your Experian CreditExpert Service (for example, under a Trial or Redemption Code), you will not be entitled to a refund. You can cancel by calling us or...
    Clicking on 'calling us' shows...

Check the post I made a few days above. The website *certainly does* tell you that, I even gave the OP the number.
