moving boiler?

We had a Vailant condensing combi boiler installed last year. It is in a tall cupboard, and has a magnaclean (or similar-fernox make it I think) installed, which is quite bulky.
We are considering redoing the kitchen, and one change I want to make is to put the washing machine below the boiler, as it will free up space for a corner cupboard (more storage YAY!)
BUT-the boiler itself is fine, its approx 1100mm above the floor, but the bottom of the bulky fernox thing is 730mm above, so my WM wouldn't be able to go back against the wall
Is it possible to get it moved do you think? Or would I need to get the boiler shifted up the wall (and hence the flue etc etc etc-major expense I reckon
)
Or do I have to kiss goodbye to the thought of an extra 2 cupboards? (its 2 because if I put a corner base unit, I can put a corner wall one too
)

Hi, the filter has to be fitted on the CH return to the boiler, as close to the boiler as possible preferably, so i'm not sure where you could move it to? It could go on the flow but wouldn't work anywhere near as well. Plus it needs to be accessible for emptying annually by the engineer. Moving the entire boiler and flue however would be megabucks.
How tall is the washing machine? Don't forget there needs to be room to service the boiler, and the case screw is underneath at the front0 -

Washing machine is a standard height, 900mm I think. Is there a smaller version of this sort of thing? its about 200mm tall?0 -
Sorry to contradict Lgas but:
The filter can be fitted anywhere. Its only recommended to be fitted on the return and close to the boiler for it to be most effective.
On some installations, its impossible to comply so its sometimes fitted elsewhere.
Have the filter moved, you might still be able to fit it on the return pipe but further away from the boiler.You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0 -
I'm not sure on the technicalities but I would recommend spending the extra to make your kitchen more practical, extra space in the kitchen is worth a lot.0

Thanks everyone. Boiler is due a service in september or october (must have for warranty)Do you reckon if I got them to do that early they would do the 2nd year one in sept/oct or 12mo from this year?0

True, you can have the filter on the flow but from what i've seen it really doesn't work as well. Saw an installation that had been powerflushed, magnabooster fitted on the flow and the pump was full of rubbish about 2 months later. You can have it anywhere on the return but as the other poster put, we don't know the pipework layout. As long as it's accessible for cleaning the OP should be able to get it moved elsewhere hopefully.0

Sorry-I missed this reply. I don't know if there is one of those-if they would be an extra to what we have, which is one of these which is MASSIVE! Would that small (looking) thing be instead of?0 -
I spoke to the boiler company yesterday and they are coming out in a couple of weeks to take a look. He did say I didn't NEED the filter, it was just recommended and wouldn't invalidate (5year parts and labour) warranty. I'm loathe to remove it, we'll see what he comes up with when he comes out
What do you think? Is removing it a bad idea?0
