Train Fare to Liverpool RTN, from London
Options
Hi all,
I have to go Liverpool on Sunday 29th, returning on the 31st May 2011.
I am not much of a rail user to be honest and just have used the London Underground at most but I am required to go Liverpool for 2 days. I was wondering whether anyone can help me in obtaining the cheapest possible tickets?
Outward journey (29th): departure to be after lunch, or even before
Inward journey (31st): to leave Liverpool in the evening on Tuesday.
I was hoping to stop by Manchester for a few hours, where permitted to see a friend but as I am no freeuent user, to say the least, of the railway, I dont knowhow this will affect the fare.
I hope someone can help. Thank you soo much in advance

As there is engineering works around the Liverpool area on the Sunday best breaking your journey at Stoke on Trent.
Get a London Midland Super Off peak Return from London Euston to Stoke on Trent for £22.50 for better flexibility (more train options) a London Midland Off Peak Return for £33
Then an Off Peak Return from Stoke on Trent to Liverpool which is also valid via Manchester for £17.50, as a break of journey is allowed on that ticket, you can get off at Manchester visit friends then get back on and continue your journey to Liverpool, on the return you can get any train from Liverpool to Stoke on Trent.
Be aware the London Midland service from London to Stoke is a lot longer time wise than the Virgin service.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0
