  • Hi :)

Did my big month spend yesterday, then in the evening went to my local Mr T for any whoopsies (not much luck, but did get a couple of bits, swede, rocket and ciabatta). today was supposed to be a non spend day as I had put money aside for crackers from Mr T yesterday (they didn't have any in) to buy today when I went to pick up my Boots order, but forgot my Boots card which I was going to use to pay for the couple of little bits I needed from there  :( Never mind, I'm still doing really well and well under budget at the moment, so am not going to sweat the small stuff :)

Hope everyone else is busy frugaling :D x

  • I'm doing some grocery shopping this evening and I'm writing in now to say that I'm taking a list. So that should help steer me away from the things i usually waste money on.

But just in case it doesn't I'm saying out loud  and you are all my witness that I am not going to buy chewing gum or pop. I have been know to spend as much as £30 on those two things (and finish it all within a couple of days) and it just has to stop. I managed to stop smoking years ago, gave up chocolate & booze 5 years ago but I seem to be always able to find something to obsess about. If I could be moderate and buy one pack of gum and a bottle of pop as a treat then that would be OK but I know I can't.

So as well as being frugal I might get healthier too. My teeth can't handle much more diet coke. It cleans toilets but it destroys my teeth. My bowels can't cope with the sweetners from the gum. But enough of that!!!

I'm off and will report back later.

I also go out with a walking group every week and try and walk nearly every day. It is has helped my mood so much and I half also lost just over a stone and a half. I'm supposed to be doing the walk leader training with Natural England but someone is coming to see me about Dog Fostering tomorrow and if they accept me I won't be able to leave the dog to start with.

I'd be interested in a few details re the losing "just over a stone and a half" by walking - as am looking for easy ways to lose a bit of weight.....

    - Did you keep eating the same sort of diet/same amounts of food as previously - ie the weight loss was JUST from walking alone?

    - How long a walk do you think you took each day?

    - How long did it take for the weight to come off by "walking it off"?

I'm not sure I am functioning! Withdrawal the first 5 days was hell frankly. I had the most evil migraine for 3 days! It is a month today. I'm desperate for a coffee, but not desperate to do a 500g tin each week, I was beyond addicted! I'm not sure I know how do do things in moderation!

Yes I wake 5-530, then wake them after I eat, bus comes at 7:13. Lot of time, but dressing them can take two minutes or an hour, depending on their mood! Normally youngest is not awake my then, think they prefer to stay out of the chaos!

Well done on your month anniversary! Did you say 500g of coffee a week! Blimey! We get through 3 jars (100g each) a fortnight, for 2 of us and visitors, and I thought that was a lot! Your pre-7.13 time sounds like a days work (especially without coffee!), so do you have 2 children to get ready for school and then another one (or 2?) as well? All without coffee!

Not surprised you had bad headaches, when you first stopped. Hope they improve and well done again. :)

    xx

Diet coke is one of my big weaknesses. However, I think the Vat aspect has tipped this over the edge to now something of a "treat" I drink cans in the day and 2l bottle home. Usually eg 3 pint glasses a day if not more.

I could jsut about cope with offers, but now 1.99 for a 2 litre bottle is ridiculous.

I have got a headache today, as Ive not had any yet but I have had tea.

Tomorrow will be dreadful I expect.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Evening all, and judging by the posts, most of you have had a good frugal day! :D

I've sold all of £3.50 worth of things on Ebay, but that's better than nothing.... !

But the survey, had had enough responses by the time I accessed it this evening.

Still aiming for that reduction in expenses..nearly 2 weeks done folks of this year :)
