I did a quick search and came up with this thread but all the suggestions so far seem to be online sites not software you can install on your PC.

I'm still using MS Money 2000 which meets most of my requirements but the analysis tools are very limited.

The key features I want are being able to get updated prices, different ways to analyse portfolio eg performance, asset allocation etc but also integration with my other accounts like bank, savings etc that wouldn't happen with an online service.

Any suggestions for things like MS Money that are current?

Here is a link to the newest FREE edition of Microsoft Money, MS are giving this free but there are no online features as in the older paid for software

Thanks, I did try that but its not compatible with my version of Money so it won't open the files I have. It is the online ability to update prices that is particularly useful to me.

Note that this is the US version of money. There are no free (or non-free) versions of UK Money available.

Also note for any MS Money user who doesnt know - the ability to download share and fund prices is disappearing at (IIRC) the end of the year. I am looking for some way of downloading prices via a back door, but havent yet come up with anything.

Yeah, but you still have a choice of currencies for each account so it will still be useful for those with no similar software and for most people the manual updateing of share or fund prices should only take a couple of minutes.

I did download it onto my spare laptop as a backup and also have Money UK 2005 on my desktop PC. Well it is free software anyway so beats paying £40 for it....

I have to say that I am quite shocked that for 5 years I haven't been able to find any *good* share + fund price management online (or offline) tool. I've probably tried all the tools mentioned in a certain point of time. I find trustnet to be the best as I believe it'sthe only one that allows you to graph your whole portfolio combined, rather than each share / fund individually.
But all tools are currently quite limited - basic features I would expect to have like overlaying your buy / sell dates are missing from all.
Unfortunately I have no beneficial information to add that may help others here ;)

    Seasons best wishes to everybody,
I am currently using Money 2003 which is working pretty good. I also use Morningstar and Trustnet as each has a different way of showing what I want. MS Money remains my best historical tool but when the price updates end I will need to find something else. Unfortunately there does not appear to be anything that fits the bill just now, Quicken for Windows may be okay but I'd prefer to find something that works on my MacBook.

I have tried a few of the other offerings but all were unable to download from the Yahoo UK server, thus price updates were limited to US shares/funds and UK shares only. Hopefully the situation will change before MS stop the downloads as I am keen to keep a historical outlook of my portfolio and don't fancy manually updating prices in the long run.

If you only want to use one tool then for me that would be Trustnet as it is the most complete of those that I have tried.
