hello
can anyone guide me as to how to create a backup disk for vista?
i didn't get an installation disk with my pc (pre installed) - nor does it look like i have it on a separate partition.
i have a laptop thats just gone bananas and i don't want to be stuck if my vista goes bananas!
thanks - soz for no capitals but got baby on my knee!

You would have had one or the either (a re-install DVD or a Recovery Partition)? You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Defo no re-install dvd provided and I'm not 100% sure what a recovery partition is - but I have C drive and then all the other drives are removable disks....You're my wife now Dave.......0

I'd guess the Recovery Partition is hidden. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky

It's an E system (cheap and cheerfull - lol!) bought it like a year ago and have never had any probs - but you never know -hence I thought I better look into a recovery/start up disk. You're my wife now Dave.......0 -
You need to get hold of a program called Norton/Symantic GHOST. there are others that will work. Acronis True Image etc or you could try PING at http://ping.windowsdream.com/ which is free.
in Ghost
make a image of a partition
you'll need to save it to another partition, or other disk - you can either use a diferent partition or disk, you can use a large (4Gig) flash drive or a USB drive to save the image it cannot save to the same partition . then when you need to reinstall you'll need to -
Write image to partition.
Use this type of procedure regardless of OS
