  • They are a new concept in gaming, getting you out of the chair to play (often).

The little attachments are probably more trouble than they are worth, coz you will probably end up putting a rubberized glove on your remote for protection (and feel) which makes it then impossible to use the attachments.

If you really need to have a tennis racket whilst playing tennis then so be it, but don't think you need these items.

What you actually need is a second controller, and probably a second nunchuck (or you can't do 2-player in boxing for example); so expect to spend more than the bare £179.99 over the coming weeks.

If you can, get the second controller with the Wii Play game disk (£29.99 at Blockbuster); they are meant for kids, but are really fun for the whole family.
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

  • Dixons and game are putting stock up in batches. This is probably to stop the site crashing. I found a couple of great little sites that alert you when stock is in and i was able to get one from both shops today. Both only had stock for 5-10mins. Use the following sites over the next few days and you should be ok.

    http://www.wii-consoles.co.uk/

The other is wii pre order. co.uk but it wont let me pase the link so just google it.

both have a live thing that flashes a msg up on screen when stock is in so just leave that open.

What exactly would I need to buy if we wanted to play tennis against each other?

The Wii comes with Wii Sports, a game that includes a nice little 1-4 player Tennis game. You could play against each other, or both of you could play on the same team against the computer.

To be able to play with the two of you, you'd need to buy an additional Wii Remote, I'd recommend getting the game "Wii Play" if you do, as its an extra £5 more than a Wii Remote alone, but comes with one bundled in, and is a nice little set of amusing mini-games.

    EDIT:
Just found this on another thread:

The kids would use it, but not sure i like the idea of them flinging around in front of my big tv (thinking about it logically).

As much as I do understand your concern (there was quite alot of fuss about it initially with Nintendo), all Remotes come with a (pretty comfortable and sturdy) wrist strap, and you are advised at the start of every game to wear it so that you can't fling the Remote accidently into your TV :rotfl: So just make sure they put them on (I always chase my friends up who don't as I'm overly protective of my TV!!) and it should be fine.

I've had the Remote fly out of my hand a couple of times after a lengthy "work out", but the wrist strap hasn't failed me yet!

Oh, and for extra protection for your Remotes aswell, online at Nintendo.co.uk you can order up to four FREE Wii Remote Jackets. They are just little tough rubber jackets that you put on the remotes to help cushion them should you accidently swing into something... or someone! ;)

I bought it with a nunchuck type thing so was £195.

Just so you know, the box comes with one Remote and one Nunchuck included, so you're going to have a spare Nunchuck unless you're buying another Remote too!
Captured so far - Over £1000!! :D Thanks MSE!
