Best place to purchase investment trusts(ISA?)

I want to put some money away in a Jupiter managed investment trust. I will probably leave it there for the long term and am looking at the kind of costs I should expect to pay, as well as the best place to place for this investment.
Also can any of their trusts be placed within an ISA and if so is it easy to do?
Another important factor for me is being able to monitor the investment online as I may want to check up on it two or three times a year.
I would be grateful for any recommendations.

Most Investment Trust managers run some sort of savings scheme with nil or low cost. All will run them as an ISA if required and some give you O/L access,
If you know the IT you want, contact the manager and ask about their scheme.0 -
I'm going high risk with Jupiter Green as I think that we are in a worse shape than even the hype suggests and companies in the green sector will continue to grow and maybe even accelerate further. I did read somewhere that companies which are classed as being AIM are not allowed to be wrapped in an ISA but would this apply to 'Jupiter Green Investment Trust PLC'?
Also can you give me some examples of Investment Trust managers that I could further research?0 -

The discount broker Selftrade has a very cheap ISA deal (25 quid p.a. regardless of size) which gives you access to ITs (and also exchange traded funds with no purchase costs).

Hargreaves & Lansdowne have no annual fee for holding an ISA, btw. I'm looking at them to hold funds, even though I use Selftrade for individual shares.Debbie0 -

H-L's ISA is only "no annual fee" if you hold funds ( and not even all funds).
If you hold shares, IT's, ETFs etc. ( inc. a few certain funds) they charge 0.5% + VAT on the value up to a max of £200 pa.
Compare that to the likes of Selftrade and a few others who charge a flat rate £25 pa fee.
On top of that, H-L's share dealing costs are generally higher.
Good for funds, not so good otherwise.0 -

I do realise that H&L have annual management charges for funds, but so do Selftrade?
As I said, I do have a Selftrade account already (for individual shares), but am considering liquidating and transferring a tracker ISA into an H&L account for some funds. I still haven't decided on the actual funds, but generally speaking, is this a sensible option rather than buying them through Selftrade?
I've the application all ready and waiting, so I'd rather know before I put it in the post tomorrow!Debbie0 -
Jupiter's in-house dealing of ITs is very expensive (1% dealing + 0.5% ISA wrapper) . Its what you'd expect of a company concentrating on high cost funds.

To prioritise that list: Aberdeen (invtrusts.co.uk), F&C and JP Morgan have a range of ITs and are amongst the largest providers. Baillie have a plethora of generalist ITs, Blackrock have more niche and risky trusts, Alliance only offer one investment trust but it happens to be the largest.

Investment Trusts are companies - you buy shares rather than units.
HL have a far larger selection of funds available and, as has been said, they are ( mostly ) cheaper than ST for funds. But you can buy most ( all? ) other ITs through Alliance Trust, and they provide a free ISA wrapper...0 -
I'm getting a bit confused now.
My plan is to buy between £500 and £1K in Jupiter Green Investment Trust PLC
Now I believe that this is a company so I would have to buy shares in it so from the above discussion can I take it that I would be better off using selftrade and their flat £25 fee for ISAs?0
