Help - Computer Crashed

My DH's computer crashed and since then when we turn it on all we get is a blue screen telling us
'a problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
Disable or uninstall any anti-virus....................
Trouble is we cannot get out of this screen to do anythng, does anyone have any suggestions please.

remove any extra hardware that you may have plugged in, and try safe mode (F8 at boot).
If you can get in, do a chkdsk c: /F/R and reboot. If that doesn't work, try a system restore.
if that doesn't work, boot from the XP disk, select recovery console, and try the chkdsk c: /F/R

if that doesn't work try a repair installation from the XP disk.
If that doesn't work, then you may be able to use the recovery live CD's mentioned in my signature link, to get at your data, and then reinstall XP.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
