Glasgow to Aberdeen train
Options
I need to book the 05.55am train from Glasgow Queen Street to Aberdeen for the 31st August. However, the Advance Single ticket was intermittently becoming available and unavailable in the past couple of days.
The Advance Single ticket hasn't been available today. Anyone have any advice or promotional codes, etc?
If I can't find any way to get the advance single, I will book it at full price but I want to see if I can get it cheaper somehow first.
Anyone have any idea why it only becomes available sometimes?

Probably on the verge of selling out - if someone 'buys' it and changes their mind before paying then this can happen. Or if there's a cancellation.
If you can only get full price then you might as well buy on the day - you never know the cheapie might reappear before then0 -

Thanks,
the advance single tickets are non-refundable, they can only be changed to a different train for £10 fee, so I doubt many will be doing that
The price won't go above the "full price", will it?
Also, do trains tend to book out? I don't want to go to book it the previous day to see it is sold out. Well, I am guessing it is extremely rare since the full price ticket is anytime.
Do anytime trains have specific seats?
I guess I might as well wait and see and book closer to the date, do they put the prices down on the day before perhaps?0 -
Trains NEVER book out. There is no mechanism for them doing so. At some stage (before the train is full) they will stop making seat reservations, but they will carry on selling flexible tickets. There's always a section of the train that is unreserved.
An anytime ticket will be the same price on the day. Bought in advance it would get you a seat reservation, if available.0 -

I'll just wait and see and book it later. No hurry if the price and availability isn't changing anyway.0 -

On exactly the same train as you wish to travel, split at Perth and Montrose...
Advance Single Glasgow to Perth = £8.00.
Anytime Day Single Perth to Montrose = £10.50.
Advance Single Montrose to Aberdeen = £12.90.
Total = £31.40.0 -
This seems to be 'on the right track'.

That is legal right?
I'm not familiar at all with "train travelling". I want to make sure I don't get chucked off. So basically I will have 3 tickets. How did u guys work this out? :T
So, I'll just show the relevant ticket to the trainman each time he comes to check tickets?
well done guys! :T0 -

Yes it's legal as long as the train stops at the station(s) where you are changing tickets.
You may need to change seats if your seat number is different for the different tickets0 -
£22.60 if you can take the 06.30 departure
£10.30 if you can take the 09.41 departure"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

What about the bus? Citylink gold leaves at 9am and a super single is £40
