Yes, you pay capital gains tax on the sale of any property that is not your main residence. But you do have a small capital gains tax allowance every year - sorry - it's changed recently I think and I don't know what it is - but if you are part of a couple, then you each have an allowance for CGT and so it pays to have any property in 2 names.
EDIT : Just found out HERE allowance is £10k per person for this financial year.0 -
