Can anyone help me find the best fare from Leeds to Milton Keynes on May 21 and return on May 23 please? I don't mind if it's train or coach or both, I just don't know where to look, it's all mind boggling!

11/01/21: Offers accepted on both sales & on our joint purchase
25/01/21: Identity checks completed, solicitors instructed
27/01/21: Purchase survey & valuation complete, mortgage offer received
05/02/21: Reduction agreed on partner's sale (under-valuation) & on purchase. Mortgage offer amended
08/02/21: Buyers pack returned to solicitor - sellers packs already returned
    26/02/21: Partner's sale contract signed
    10/03/21: Purchase searches all back
    16/03/21: My sale contract signed
28/03/21: Purchase enquiries satisfied, Title Report & contracts issued, contracts signed & returned
11/05/21: Still waiting on final enquiry in the adjoining chain to be resolved. Consent to break the chain granted, instruction to move to exchange given.
17/05/21: All parties agreed to June 3rd for completion
27/05/21: Exchanged on my sale only
    28/05/21: ALL EXCHANGED!
    03/06/21: Completion
  • How come Megatrain tickets are not on sale yet beyond 23rd May? I usually book them about 8-10 weeks in advance, so it's unusual they are not yet appearing beyond that date. Does anyone know when availability might start showing for early July?

Have you asked Megatrain these questions? What did they say?

    See their Contact Us webpage.

Have you seen the MSE article on cheap travel?
Should make things a bit clearer.

How about train via Sheffield to Wellingborough, and then Stagecoach X4 bus to MK?

    Transport direct may help.

Try East Coast Trains for train time/fare info.

    Can National Express coaches help?

Or maybe train via Sheffield to Bedford and the bus 1/1c to MK.

The same thing happened around this time last year - once the post 23rd May dates go on the website you should find you'll then be able to book journeys online for dates from 24th May right through to late summer.

(As per last year I am keeping a close eye on the website so that I can book my journeys to the festivals - Megabus have already lost my £2 return ticket to Bristol for Glastonbury, which I booked last week on National Express, but I doubt this loss will be bringing Megabus to its knees:rotfl:).

I sent a e mail to Megabus and was told they was going to be on by the end of last week as a new timetable will also start end of may but still not up yet so i would have though it should be by the end of this week.
  • Hi there folks

Wondering if I could ask if anyone could source me a cheaper fare from Glasgow to Bridlington next Thursday (29th) afternoon?

Best I can find is through raileasy at £40, which, while not too bad, just seems a wee bit steep purely for just a single. I don't need the return incidentally - just the single.

Would be very grateful, thank you
I have no more money to give - all you companies out there - do your worst - I give in!! :(

First thing to say is don't book through raileasy or thetrainline. Both these companies charge fees on top of the ticket price which can be avoided by booking with a real train company, like East Coast Trains.

    Edited to Add...
    try splitting at York.
There is an Advance Single Glasgow to York at £20.90*, dep 13:00, arr 16:30.
    Anytime Single York-Bridlington = £16.20.

    * to get this price, must book via East Coast Trains.

    Edited to Add...
Or use My Train Ticket and get this trip for £36 and just a 90p booking fee if you collect tickets from a machine at a station. And get air miles too.
  • Thank you Keith - I didn't know they charged a fee
