Can I ask how you came up with this list? Was it a search on the fringe site?

  • Hi all,

The Scotsman offer was published for the Pleasance today offering hundreds of free tickets to all shows at the Pleasance. Availability is strictly limitted so they may have gone already.

However, every day between tomorrow and the end of the Fringe the Scotsman will be publishing HALF PRICE ticket offers for shows at the Pleasance.

You can choose to receive alerts about free tickets and offers by subscribing to PlezText. However please note that it will cost 25p for each text received. We send either one or two texts per day and you can unsubscribe at any time.

For more info you can visit the Pleasance Website.

Does anyone get the Scotsman on a regular (daily?) basis? If someone does and would be willing to post each days half price ticket offers here that would be very helpful - saves going out to buy the paper only to inevitably find that none of the offers are for shows you want to see.

The Edinburgh Evening News also seems to have a few half price vouchers each day... oh and there is a half price ticket hut (for that day's performances only) on top of the Waverley Mall shopping centre next to the station...although yesterday's offers were quite limited and nothing that appealed to me...obviously these will change daily.......

I know that today's Scotsman has 'Thatha' as one of the half price ticket offers - an excellent show (at Underbelly, Bristo Square) but I think that the offer applies to that day's show only so to late for this one as it's on at about 2'o clock in the afternoon.

Free Tattoo Shows for Edinburgh's Ross Theatre
    Posted 8th August 2006

Musicians, singers, dancers, percussionists and acrobats from all over the world will gather this week at the Ross Theatre in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens for The Royal Bank of Scotland's 'Taste of the Tattoo'.

The first of this year's popular free shows is set to take place tomorrow, Wednesday August 9th at 12.30pm, with the Concert Band of the Army of Chile and the Evendart Artistic Company.

Drawn from Atacama in the north to Patagonia in the south, this diverse group of musicians and dancers are set to provide a fascinating exhibition of Chile's distinctive cultural and musical heritage.

Then, on Thursday, August 10th at 12.30pm, more than 300 performers will present this season's first mini-Tattoo in the gardens.

Thursday's complimentary one-hour show will feature participants from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Switzerland, and China as well as from throughout the United Kingdom. The action is set to include eight top Tattoo acts which will showcase the talents of, amongst others, a Chinese Kung Fu Group, the Top Secret Drum Corps from Switzerland, Uganda's Watoto Children's Choir, South African Highland Dancers and the New Zealand Army Band.

Building on the success of a series of RBS-sponsored Tattoo performances over the last three years, sees this innovative initiative continue to provide all those who have been unable to obtain a ticket for the sold-out military showpiece on the Castle esplanade with a flavour of the record-breaking event.

Tattoo Chief Executive & Producer, Brigadier Melville Jameson, said: "We aim once again to provide spectators with an opportunity to enjoy a free flavour of this year's sold-out event."

You are invited to send a reporter/photographer/camera crew to record these colourful events.

Venue: Ross Theatre, West Princes' Street Gardens, Edinburgh
Date/Event: Wednesday, 9th August - Concert Band of the Army of Chile with the Evendart Artistic Company
Thursday, 10th August - Free Mini-Tattoo with 300 international performers
    Time: 12.30pm - 1.30pm

  • Can highly recommend the free performances of Romeo & Juliet in the Edinburgh Botanical Gardens - some reviews here:
