Hi,
since getting this laptop I havn't used pc for nearly a year now, so thinking of giving it a good clean out, next rainy day, and getting rid of it.
It has MS Office 2003 on it, and I would like to leave it on (no disc), I have XP home edition disc, and MS Works disc.
If I reinstall XP will I lose Office, or should I do a clean up using Eraser Dban, or other options?
Thanks.

Re-install XP - You will lose Office and EVERYTHING else.
Repair XP - Will fix any issues (if any) with XP but leave Office and files, photos etc intact.
Running Dban will lose EVERYTHING. This is a utility to wipe a disk so that no 'deleted' files can be recovered.
What are you trying to achieve?
o Removal of private data?
o Fix issues with XP?0 -
Office 2003 was the last decent iteration of Office, get the pc going again and use it......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Hi,
thanks for the reply.
Really just want to remove private data, as I use laptop all the time now, and pc is stuffed away in a cupboard doing nothing.
I transferred what I was wanting from pc to lappy when I got lappy, about a year ago, but was keeping pc, just incase of problems with lappy.
I thought while I was removing data I could give it a 'service' as it was getting a bit slow, thus the idea of reinstalling XP.0 -
Download and install CCleanner
This will remove temp internet files, browsing history, cookies etc..etc
Download and install Identity Finder
This identifies any cookies/files that contain username/password information
Download and install Eraser
This enables you to do the following securely
o Delete specific files
o Delete all files in specific folder
o Overwrite any free space on a hard drive that might contain recoverable files.
Good luck0 -
