I simply wish to move home and retain phone and BB from BT.
Can I do it online? Impossible to get through on phone.:rotfl:
Will I have to start a new contract or will the original one continue to run ?
Thanks

Log into your account on their website and choose moving home website or try dialling 150
If their isn't an existing/active line and you need installation I think you will have to get a new contract0 -
Any move will mean you will have to agree to a new 12 month contract for line rental even if the line is fully operational.
There are 9 days of the free installation offer left (18 month contract, make 10 calls per month).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

If you plan to move home and transfer your BT service, can I advise you to do the following:
- Note the date and time of day you called them, also the number you called them from.
- Take the name of each agent you speak with.
- Ask for conformation of your order (transfer of service is an order) to be confirmed in writing.
If BT ever quibble the order, or claim it does not exist, or try to charge you for services at a property you do not live at any more, ask to escalate the call to a supervisor/teamleader and ask for the call you made that relates to the issue to be traced and listened to, to prove that in fact you did everything correctly and it is in fact their error.
I work in a call centre environment, and wish I had known all this information before I moved home 4 times with BT, each time incurring large, unwarranted costs, no service for weeks, and to add insult to injury be tied into a new 12 month contract each time.
BTs services for phone and internet are fine, until you move home and try to take them with you. Next time we move, I will be paying BT in excess of £200 which is left on my contract with them for the priviledge of NOT being their customer any more.

Finally got through to someone sensible. Order placed, name taken, time noted, order number given. Hope all goes well !!!:T:T:T
Just a wee addendum.
It appears if you need a new line (ours was a one off new build we built ourselves) you have to pay the £122.50 install fee. Not too bothered 'cos it needed 400 metres of BT cable. The fee would not even cover the cost of the cable.
Thanks to all who bothered to reply.0 -

So did you mention the free installation offer, I thought it was for reconnections and new lines?0
