Here's the later part of the article... I've bolded the only bits you need to read.
...
Howard Archer, chief UK economist at IHS Global Insight, said: "We remain highly sceptical that house prices have bottomed out. Significantly, it is not uncommon for there to be months of rising prices when house prices are still trending down.
"Housing market activity remains very low by past norms and our expectation is that the pick up in activity will be both gradual and fitful for an extended period given still very poor economic fundamentals and relatively tight credit conditions."
Many warn that unemployment, expected even by optimists to rise substantially in the coming months, will cause many home owners to sell their houses in a hurry – pushing down prices yet further"0 -

Indeed, if you are so mind numbingly anal that you need to know exactly what happened two months ago. I would prefer to have an idea what might happen in the future as that's where some of us are heading.
The future is not written yet, anything can happen - the best you can do is have a guess like everyone else.0 -

Is this your MO then; spamming the board with articles from anywhere in the internet that shows rising prices, but only cut and pasting the parts you agree with?
I wonder how many people trying to "talk up the market" on this part of the board realise theyre reaching a readership so small that it would make a tiny local newspaper look like the New York Times.
As all this part of MSE seems to be now is personal bickering and people with weird strident opinions that they prosecute over numerous sock accounts.

Could someboody please explain to me (in simple language because i'm a bit stupid) why high house prices are a good thing."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

Just interested in posters' opinions - not really interested in bickering. There's plenty of D & G on this board so it's refreshing to read the opinions' of posters who are more bullish. Nothing wrong with that is there?0
