Call divert option

Hi,

My line is with BT (option1) and I have all calls routed through through Primus (24x7).

If I go away and want to put my calls on divert (say to my mobile) - would I contact BT or Primus to do this.

I suspect it's BT as they provide the line but if someone can confirm this for me I'd be grateful.

Thanks,

Rybo

Your incoming calls arrive via BT so you have to set up call divert with them. It's a £1.75/month Calling Feature called simply Call Diversion.

However, it is not cheap to transfer your incoming calls to a mobile because you pay that part of the call at BT rates (no, you cannot use 18185 or the like).

An answering machine with a 'please call me on ...' message would be cheaper!

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Nominate the mobile you want to divert your calls to as your Best Friend and your get 20% off your calls.

Also you could get Call mobile which gives you 25% off your mobile calls. Normally costs £1.50 a month free to 31/7/06. Combining this with Best Friend gives you 40% off normal mobile rates. Your still need to have call divert to do this.

Rybo - just a note if you do set up call divert.
Yes you'll need to contact BT for Call Divert to be added - a £1.75/month fee.
However, if you have carrier pre-select then the CPS company will actually bill you for the diverted call (I did not realise this until I did it!). However, you can use the 1280 override code to divert calls (ie set call divert to 1280 01234 123456 and these calls will appear on your BT bill instead).

not all cps operators bill for the call divert service, so do some don't. u'll need to check with your cpso, as to wether they bill or BT

clark1982 is right - some bill for diverted calls, some do not, and in my case some do not seem to know. I was a Vartec customer, they told be diverted calls would be billed by BT, but I got my bill and diverted calls appeared in my list of standard outgoing calls on my Vartec bill - so according to my bill it often appeared as if I was making two telephone calls at the same time!
