Wireless router

Hi

Am finally up and running with the old tinterweb and apparently I need a wireless router for wi-fi. My laptop is wi-fi enabled so is the router the only other thing that I need? Would I then not need at all my router that came with the broadband? Where's the best place to get said wireless thingy majiggy from? If it makes any difference I dont download anything or do anything hi tech.

LOL - Hi,

As long as you have 'tinternet' up and running then you should be able to replace your modem with a wireless ADSL modem\router.

Are you on ADSL or cable connection?

I got mine from ebuyer & they still seem to have some of the best deals around.

As long as your wireless router includes modem support (which most of them do) then you can get rid of the one (or keep it as a backup) that came with it. Actually it's best to keep it because if you connection goes down they may ask you to put it back on for fault finding.

Security wise - I just went for WEP, but you can sort all of that out once your up & running.

You can then sit in your garden enjoying a beer while working :beer:

I heartily recommend Belkin. My router/modem was easy to set up, the support is excellent (despite being in India, though it's a Freefone UK call) and I've had no problems to speak of in 12 months of use.
