Hi,
I wonder if anyone could help.
I have a Halifax Web Saver account and need to register for tax free status on my interest. Can this be done online, as i cant seem to find anything on their Website.

Wow easier than I thought. You log in. Press the Account, on the left there is a tab with 'Tax Status', click that, go down the page to the section called Tax and what do you know, theres how you do it.
To change your tax status please ring 08457 26 36 460 -
Thanks for the quick reply! :money:0

No you don't. Although you can do that, a lot of banks now just update their systems if you phone them up or do it online (Egg let you do it online)0 -

Thanks for the information, I didn't know that.
My mother had to fill in the forms, although that was some years ago.
I presumed that Inland Revenue would still require your signature.0 -

Yeh I think with the new technogly (I can't seem to remember how to spell that word for some reason, weird) that a lot of banks aren't using that system anymore as its the same process to them, updating their system.
What you have to do with Halifax is listen to them read out a short statement saying you must tell us if you are over your tax threshold etc. before you can get it.
Egg you have to read a statement saying the same thing.
However saying that, on this forum if anyone says 'I am not paying tax how do I get tax free interest?' I always direct them, like you have, to the R85 form.0
