BT would not send out from SMS as far as I am aware, it may be a text message to your home number, the phone rings and shows your home number , it will then say you have recieved a text message and read it to you (badly)
I'm getting plagued by SMS messages at the moment that BT voicetext cannot fathom, maybe it's a new thing, like you say ...a scamEx forum ambassador

Apparently, you can turn the 'feature' off by phoning 0800 587 5252.Browntoa wrote:I'm getting plagued by SMS messages at the moment that BT voicetext cannot fathom ...........Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
this could be a simple mistake. Someone sends a text message to your mobile, but instead of pressing your mobile number, they press the button for your home phone ( ie, I've got "Allan home" and Allan mob." on my mobile. I accidentally pressed "Allan home" instead of mobile and he got a trumpeting automated message on his home phone. So it may not be a scam:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

It is not a scam - the message might be from a scammer, just like a text message to your mobile might be from a scammer, but the BT message is perfectly legit - try sending a text to your home phone and you will hear the same message.
It may have been an important message from one of your friends
