Hurrah! Car joy & Report question

For those of you whom know about my car situation - hurrah, joy and triumph.
For those of you whom don't - I have a car that is worth so little the OR's valuer said he couldn't sell it, AND I need it for work, but the OR still wanted to take it. I also have cherished plates on it (present from when I passed my test many moons ago), which the OR was after. Having put me through some heartache over the case, they said they wanted £600 for the plates and car. I wrote back and said 'not on your nelly' and promptly offered £200 pointing out this was a quick and guaranteed sale.
And today I got a letter accepting!! They've added VAT on at £35 so I now have to decide how ar*y I want to be, and remind them that the offer was £200, not £200 plus VAT, and the fact of the matter that we can't actually afford £200 either (OH told me today - am just happy about the fact I beat the OR down at the moment and concentrating on that rather than bursting into tears at the fact it's all for nothing.) BUT hurrah.

So the moral of the story is, stick to your guns people, especially if a) you have little to loose (already been told I am getting a BRO and as we don't actually have enough money coming in to pay rent *and* eat at the moment, an IPA is laughable) b) you *know* you are right.

I'm sure something else will come to bite me on the ar*e now, but hey, little steps.

BTW - does anyone know about reports and when they are meant to be done? I've had very little contact from my OR, and when I have (eg the car situation) I tend to not hear back again after I have complied with the info given for months. I thought a report had to be written and sent to the people I owed, and read on another BR supporters site (sorry can't remember which one) that these have to be done in a certain amount of time. I'm now 8 months into BR and nothing from OR since the nasty emails/phone calls around my interview just after BR (the car stuff has all been exclusively through the auctioneers acting as a go-between).

Am hoping no news is good news - or where they waiting to sort out the car situation? Whilst I don't think I will get an IPA (see above) and the OR did say this on the telephone at my interview, they seem to like to change their minds, and I'm sure my luck will mean mine tries to go for one - any ideas when this might land on my doormat?

Cheers guys

  • Oh Pixie that is fantastic news about the car, I have been reading your posts about your struggle with them! That's a great break through..........................

My OH is just over 7months in to BR and the last we heard was back in January when he returned his ED questionaire thingy,.....................nothing since , so I guessing that you not hearing from them is the norm too. I think intial reports can take upto 8 weeks, and then if your considered for ED there is another report sent to creditors asking for any objections etc................other than that I dont really know

Well done though :T, and hope you can manage to find the money for your car from somewhere

    Best wishes

Thats brilliant news about the car :)

The OR has 56 days to prepar a report for your creditors.

Great news Pixie. :D Shame you might not be able to get even that money together, but you have won out on on principle as you should have.

If you are thinking about timing for the BRU/O, then I think under normal circumstances they need to get things moving on that before 9/10 months are up so that they they would have time to sort out a BRO rather than a BRU if it was needed.

Does that mean they did the first report, and just didn't tell me? I seem to remember reading on here they don't show you the report, but they didn't let me know it was finsihed - seeing as 56 days was a *long* time ago. I don't even *want* ED - content with my full 12 months of just keeping my head down and getting on with it. Just don't want any nasty surprises I guess.

Shall look forward to the next couple of months then and the BRU coming through - is it just a piece of paper with 'this is a BRU, sign it' written on it basically? Or is it more complex than that?

Max - I *really* want to keep them - for a start they want £150 off me to transfer them etc if I don't want to keep them, which is nearly the amount I've bartered too, and they are pretty much the only thing I have now - had to leave former house and lost pretty much everything I owned (clothes, books, kitcken stuff, nick nacks, furniture etc etc) and it was something my dad gave me and now he doesn't really speak to me so it's kinda sentimental.

Thanks for the messages guys :)

Most people hear absolutely zilch about the OR's 'Report to Creditors' Pixie. It's nothing to worry about. :)

I havent heard or seen anything about my report to creditors and I went BR in Oct last year, they only wrote to me saying I can have an early discharge!!!

So im waiting by the letterbox with anticipation!!!!!!

Good Luck with the car and plates - hope some miracle comes along and you find the cash for them.

And as the saying goes you can pick your friends but you cant pick your family!!!!! HOW VERY TRUE. Their loss as to say, your gain as true friends support you though everything.
