Abbey Mortgage Payment After Redemption!

hello.
just looking for an idea from someone who may have been in this position. i think i know the answer anyway but here goes.
Payment made to Abbey on the 28th March.
Mortgage redeemed 31st March (wish it was to be MF).
Solicitors advised not stopping the DD just incase of last minute hitch but MA had suggested i cancel the DD before the March payment because "Abbey can be !!!! at issuing a refund".
i took the advice of the solicitor so am now in the position of having redeemed my mortgage which did NOT include the March payment (redemption figure).
will i now have to pursue this myself or will Abbey send me a refund of the March payment? my understanding is that Abbey will not have cleared funds for upto 10 days, the time is not an issue, i just want to make sure i do the right thing now to get the money back asap.
thank you.

Yes, I'm in exactly the same boat. Or about to be. My mortgage payment went through today. I am hoping to redeem the mortgage (a remortgage) tomorrow or Thursday but the redemption figure does not taker into account today's payment.
I was told that I must make the payment anyway and that once cleared the Abbey would refund and expect it to take about 2 weeks. This is what the Abbey told me. I will not be leaving it to chance and will certainly chase it up with the Abbey once my re mortgage has gone though.0
