Hi all
My mortgage company have sent me details in the post of another couples mortgage (Address, monthly amount etc..)
If was a letter sent with ours in the same envelope.
What authority should I report this data breach to?

It isn't really "massive" as only one person's details have been breached and then only to one person.
Complain to the mortgage company. You could forward to correspondence to the correct person, so they know their data was released to someone else if you want. They have been wronged more than you.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. You would report it to the ICO, but that seems a bit overkill for what is presumably just a simple mistake for one customer. As above, it is not really massive.
If you report it to the lender, they have an obligation to report it to the ICO anyway.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. It's not a massive data breach, it's two pieces of paper stuck together.0

Hi all
My mortgage company have sent me details in the post of another couples mortgage (Address, monthly amount etc..)
An unfortunate error.
If was a letter sent with ours in the same envelope.
Oh dear
What authority should I report this data breach to?
None. Just return it the mortgage company with a note pointing out the error.
You need to redefine your understanding of the word 'massive'.0 -
Agreed with all the points above about your understanding of massive!!
The mortgage company will have a Data Protection Officer (DPO), details of which will be on their web site - contact them with the details0 -
God knows who they have sent my details to??!!!!
I’ve complained demanding significant compensation.0 -

I’ve complained demanding significant compensation.
They sent it to you...If was a letter sent with ours in the same envelope.
I used to work in complaints for a bank, trust me when I say these people are used to dealing with chancers. They will pull your argument to pieces in seconds. Good luck on the significant compensation.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
