younger spouse puzzled

hi everyone .
a bit puzzled , my wife is 1 year younger than me , in my db pension assumptions calculations it says " spouse is 3 years younger ".
will this fact alter my pension payout.

    Probably not yours, but it can sometimes affect the partner's payment after you have died, which is often 50% of your pension on your death. ISTR that may be reduced if the age difference is more than 10 years.


    Only your pension trustees will be able to tell you specifically, because each pension Scheme rules are different. Most likely it won't change your payout, however - a defined benefit pension is just that - defined (at normal retirement age) as a function of your salary details and number of years worked

    No, not if she is only one year younger than you are (but nor will she get a bigger pension for being so close in age to you!).
