Debt Collectors & Information Requirements

I have been recently chased for a debt from a couple of years ago. I have written back to the debt collectors and offered to pay a monthly sum I know that I can afford.
They have written back saying they need me to complete an income and expenditure form before they can enter into a payment agreement. I have never been ‘required’ to do this before.
Am I legally obliged to complete this form and send it back to them?
Thanks!

You are not obliged to complete an income and expenditure form, but on the other hand, the company do not have to allow you to pay by installments.

No your not legally obliged to do so, but it’s actually entirely for your own benefit, they need to know that what you have offered is affordable to you, it’s an FCA requirement now, if they deem it unaffordable, they will ask you to lower your offer.
