Regarding solicitors do we find one ourself or when we get an offer accepted do the bank or our broker reccommed one to us? TIA

You find one yourself - ask for recommendations from friends and family - then request quotes from the sols so you can compare the costs.

Your broker may recommend one - but you should still get a few quotes to compare.

The bank wont recommend anyone, the broker may.

Do not use the agents solicitor or broker. Conflict of interests and they usually with solicitors get a hefty kick back, I have seen up to 300 before now - which you end up paying directly or indirectly.
