if you have been off sick for a while, can you tag a few days holiday onto the end of that sick leave?

That depends on your employer. You have to have their agreement to take any holiday!0

It’s normal to return to work before then going on A/L.
Does your employer provide for your proposal?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
Legally your company probably allows it but obviously you need their permission for a holiday..., but I would imagine it would probably be frowned upon. Most places I've worked if you've been off sick for a while you usually go back into work when you are better, rather than add holidays on to that.
Like I said, don't think your company would stop you from doing it but not sure how it would be viewed from the manager etc.0 -

He needs to ask. Many employers actually prefer employees to do this - if they have been off a long time they may have a backlog of leave that must be taken. But it is down to the employer.Legally your company probably allows it but obviously you need their permission for a holiday..., but I would imagine it would probably be frowned upon. As you said, depends how the employer works. Most that I know you get X amount of days per year that more often than not can now be carried over into the next year, rather than needing to be taking by a certain time.0

Of the legal minimum 28 days you can carry over a maximum of 8 days and only with agreement of both employer and employee"

Not necessarily. Carry over is permitted for sick leave and maternity leave. The OP indicated that they had been on sick leave. If that was longer term (the OP seemed to suggest that) then leave can be carried over.paddedjohn wrote: »Of the legal minimum 28 days you can carry over a maximum of 8 days and only with agreement of both employer and employee"

True but that wasn't what the poster was saying, they never mentioned sick leave or maternity leave at all.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
