Hi all,
i am hoping someone here maybe of help to me.
My husband and I were declared bankrupt on 8th April, on friday i received a letter with an appointment for a face to face meeting with the OR (i'm so nervous)
i was also paid from my work on friday and on saturday my bank account was frozen and i have no access to any money, i've been told i will be allocated living expenses at some point after meeting the OR but this is not happening till 10th may.
i have now opened a basic account with nationwide for my future wages to go into.
what do i do now? any tips?
also what constitutes living expenses? obviously i know mortgage, utilities and food etc? is there anything else i can legitimately include? and i have a car it isn't an expensive car worth about £1000 i use it for transport to work as well as at work to get me to a variety of meetings etc that i have to attend, am i likely to lose it?
Thanks to anyone who can help, i feel so useless right now.

Hi, have you phoned the OR office dealing with your case to let them know your account has been frozen and you don't have access to your wages? This can't wait till the 10th May, if you phone them they should phone the bank for you and tell them they have no interest in the account, you should then be able to transfer your wages to your new account for your essential living expenses.
Hopefully your OR will be reasonable over the car, mine let me keep mine even though I was not working but I think that's quite unusual. fingers crossed it works out ok for you, I can't see why it wouldn't as you need it for your work!

Firstly you need to find out why your account has been frozen. Normally ORs don't freeze accounts.
We're you made bankrupt by a creditor in your absence?
Some banks don't like bankrupt. Upon hearing about your bankruptcy they may have decided to freeze your account of theur own volition ( ie not asked tobby the or). They may unfreeze it if you can get something from the or to state they are not interested in your bank account. Generally ors let you keep money in your bank account for reasonable living expenses ( especially if you've just been paid and have bills to pay). Get on the phone to the or, hopefully you can get this sorted soon.

The bank may also of course decide that now you are a bankrupt they no longer wish to let you have an account but they still should let you access your money.

Your OR should contact the bank to ask them to contact your bank and release £xx for living expenses - give your OR a call. The bank probably won't permanently unfreeze the account but you should be able to draw what you need after chatting to your OR.
The banks freeze the accounts not the OR.
At your interview, the OR will go through your statement of affairs (SOA) . This is a form you need to complete which shows your income and expenditure. I'm presuming from what you have said, that you didn't declare BR yourselves?
If you complete this SOA http://www.stoozing.com/calculator/soa.php
Format it for MSE and post it here, we can help if you wish. During your year of BR until you are discharged, you are allowed a reasonable standard of living. Try not to panic.
From what you've said about your car value, you should be ok. Get quotes though. You need to prove you need a car (work ) and the OR will normally accept keeping a car of around £1000.SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
SPC 9 (2016) #485 TOTAL £84
SPC 10 (2017) # 485 TOTAL: £464.80
SPC 11 (2018) #4850
