Prime Time Recruitment?

I'm looking for some advice/reassurance regarding Prime Time Recruitment.

I was contacted by them last week after applying to a job via the Job Centre website. Already they have found me a position. However I am still a little confused about a few things.

PT say I work for them, not the company I'll actually be working for, is this correct? I also notice that I get paid by PT rather than the business. How does PT make money? Do they deduct anything like a % from my wages?

I've done a little google research and see a lot of bad reviews and complaints about the travel scheme, so I'm feeling a little shaky and worried I'm going to end up ripped off somehow :/

Does anyone have any experience with this company?

Yes, they are an employment agency. Quite common that you work for the agency, not directly for the company you are working at.

(You'll get most employee rights after a short period of time, including equal pay)

What does it matter how PT earn their money? They've got you a job!
You will be paid the amount you are offered by PT. It also will be stated in your contract of employment you will be required to sign before you start work.
Deductions will only be those normally associated with employment (e.g. tax, NI, etc)

When you are working for the agency at a place of work they invoice the company say £19 per hour and they then pay you say for example £8 per hour.

The extra pays for the Employers NI etc and the cost to process the payroll.

This is how they make money.

When you try to negotiate a higher rate from an agency this is why is hard to get more as they have already told the client the rate and if they then pay you more they earn less.

They told me the pay rate is £7.75 per hour, so this (apart from usual NI deductions and tax) is what I'll get? I find this all very confusing and part of me is wondering if it's worth it :/

But that is not what they charge the employer and THAT is how they make their money

They may be billing the employer £15 per hour for all you know

    How is it confusing?

If this is the rate per hour its just like a job at a company on their payroll paying you £7.75 per hour

Why would it not be worth it?

    What are you concerned about?

I have worked for prime time and everything is above board, wouldn't worry too much with that regard. It's just an agency. It's up to you if you want to take the job at the hourly rate. Personally I'd snap their hands off for that rate.

What do you find confusing about being quoted an hourly rate (less normal deductions), This is typical of what any employer would tell you when applying for a job.

I explained my confusion, so I don't understand the confusion here. I was asking of PT would deduct anything from the £7.75 before I get what's left

Everyone here explained that Prime Time get their fees by charging the workplace a higher rate than you receive - they make their money by hiring you out at a higher rate than they pay you, and they pocket the difference.

You will get the rate quoted, less tax and NI.

If they pay you via Inland Solutions like my agency does then you'll lose a % .

In my case my agency has me as self employed and IS take 5% of earnings!
