Is there a way to block access to PayDay loan companies?

Options
I have a relative who has money issues and keeps on turning to payday loan companies to get quick access to cash - but of course just keeps on digging herself into further money troubles.

I know that many gambling websites include an 'opt out' option, where you can block/bar yourself from being able to use their websites

Do payday loan companies have anything similar?

thanks

You just have to ask them - as a previous borrower most when I approached on the subject removed me straight away from mailings

There are a couple that still persist (ugh email and letters) but I just try and send to spam/ignore it, or put it to the shredder pile :D

I also submitted to the telephone preference service etc, and in the end just got new telephone numbers too as found I was then hounded by brokers after the PDL cycle was coming to an end

Of course the real cap comes from having something like a DRO listed on your credit report - it can be a much needed real credit stopper I imagine, if desperate enough to be rid and really not want credit

thanks for the reply - unfortunately my relative is her own worst enemy - i don't think its that she is succumbing to marketing - more just can't help herself as seeing payday loans as enticing quick fixes
  • You can put notes on your own credit file. I have put bi-polar, do not lend on mine. If your relative wanted, they could put something on their credit file to advise companies not to lend to them.

Not sure how many payday loan companies check credit history though?
    VR repayment  £404  £156.02 PAID
    Airpods repayment £249 £185 £75.90 PAID
    Airpods repayment £144 £99.01 PAID

    Capital One £1400

how do you go about doing that?

and can you just as easily remove it at a later date?

though as you say, payday loans probably don't check credit files

Most say they will put the money into your bank in as little as 15 minutes, so I doubt very much they do credit checks at all.
:) Been here for a long time and don't often post
