HB want to see my p45, but i cant find it! What do i do?

As the title says i cant find my p45 and HB have requested to see it and my claim has been suspended until i show it, what can i do?

    You could contact your tax office see if they can help.

    Do they want to see it just to prove you arent working? If so you could ask your old firm to supply you with a letter of confirmation and a copy of your last payslip which shows your earnings etc. I did this for a very long term sick employee recently who had problems with his benefit and couldnt find his P60.

    no,, i changed jobs, provided them with 5 payslips from my new job but they want me to confirm i'm not working at my old job even though they had my final wage slip

    I was about to say "Of course you can't find it, you've given it to your new employer", but then I thought "oh no, there's a page of it you're meant to keep yourself, isn't there?" :o

    I agree that asking the old employer to confirm that you're not working there might be acceptable. Or if you're not on good terms with them, your new employer might confirm that you gave them a P45 from the old company.
