Help!
I had a call from these guys yesterday asking for details, yet they couldnt verify my details or say what it was in connection too. They said they would then write to me.
Today I have received a text message from them to contact them urgently.
I am presently dealing with any debts I have with the help from CAB, so I have no idea what this is in connection with?
Does anyone have any advice? On how I should go about this, surely by them saying they were going to write to me, that does not constitue a text message?
Any help would be greatly apprecated thank you

Some info here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2589351 (and on the links in that thread)
I would ignore the text and wait for them to send you something in writing.
If they do and claim that they have bought one of your debts then first step should be to send the prove it letter - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=11570893&postcount=2
If they send proof of the debt and proof they have a right to collect it then you can either add it in to your debts that CAB are helping with or if it could be a really old debt that you haven't paid anything towards for years then consider if it might be statute barred.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Absolutely.

Blimey, bit spooky that I while I have just been researching the subject of bought debt companies on the web when I got yet another phone call from FI. If there is a debt, it has nothing to do with me, which I told them, also that I am researching them and their methods and to strike me off their records else I would (I bluffed, and don't know if you can) slap an harrassment order on them - there was a sharp intake of breath after which they said they would delete my phone number.
My view, agreeing with previous threads, wait until they write to you; if/when they do, check out their credentials and ask a CAB for legal help. I don't know exactly how it works but there are many companies out there buying debt who look like they are legit and their latest wheeze is to send formal letters to neighbours requesting information about you! BEWARE!
Hope I've helped.0 -
There is also a letter to say you do not want to be contacted by phone or text too....they do not have the right to harrass you in this manner. Everything should be in writing. If they only have your mobile get a new sim or just don't answer it....make them work....sounds like they are fishing xx0

Freds passed my account back to another DCA when I CCA'd them...they seem to buy up old debts that they can't prove are valid0

I have been recieving telephone calls and text messages from this company asking me 2 call them back urgently with a reference number.I called them and asked who gave them my tellephone num and asked why they were calling???they QUICKLY said they would delete my number after i said i had contacted the Police who are these people0

I had a message from this company asking me to ring them quoting a reference number. When i rang they asked for the ref, my name, address and date of birth. I only gave them my name and ref and refused to give them anymore details. However, they did not want to say who they were and what they wanted until they had all my details. I smelled fish and told them that they were up to no good and i would report them.
I have no debts so i don't know what they are up to. I like to report them, but who should i ring? any advice? I am sure this people have some obscure dealings. For the benefit of others these should people should be stopped.0 -
Rang twice both times introduced themselves not as Fredricks but as FED EX international, very deliberately, I know they're trying to collect a debt that was dismissed in court. They got no info and a few offensive words, cant wait to give them some more.0
