Hi I tried searching for HFC but proved fruitless so have started a thread for my problem, sorry if its going to be a repetition of something...
HFC being one of my creditors accepted my monthly payment a few months ago. I received a letter this morning saying that
"You have missed a payment and we are aware you are experiencing payment difficulties at present. If you are unable to make this payment by return or if your circumstances have changed please contact us on 0870 010 2230 to review your arrangement terms"
I have checked online banking and the payment has been made the beginning of the month, is this a letter to contact them to review the payment plan set up 6 months ago? Since my circumstances havent changed then do i ring them? I dont want to ring as its a premium rate number by the look of "0870".
Any replies are welcome.
Cheers.

I would not ring them on the basis of the number - http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/consumer_credit/oft664.pdf2 UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES
Communication
2.1 It is unfair to communicate, in whatever form, with consumers in an unclear,
inaccurate or misleading manner.
2.2 Examples of unfair practices are as follows:
h. asking or instructing debtors to make contact on premium rate
telephone numbers
It is not uncommon for creditors to do annual or bi-annual reviews, are you part of a DMP, if so contact your provider and see what they suggest. If you are doing it yourself, i advise you send them a letter with your current SOA showing what you can afford. Do not ring, they will twist words and make you agree to a repayment you cant afford.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Thanks For the reply DC. Im trying to sort it out myself so would prefer to avoid a phonecall as they do have a tendency to wind me up and i get annoyed then at the wrong people. Ill reprint off my original payment plan i sent them and inform them that my circumstances havent changed.0
