Retrain as a plasterer question

Hi
This is a little like asking how long a piece of string is, but here goes anyway... I am looking at becoming self employed and I have thoughts of training as a plasterer. So the question is, what sort of income is reasonable, better way of asking is this, what sort of daily rate is the going average??

Not sure of the daily rate, as such. OH has plasterer friends who usually quote for jobs by the area to be covered x depth of coverage (depends whether it's roughcast on brick/blockwork plus final skim or just skim). Also charge differently for ceilings.
His mate ,who also does floor screeding, earns a fortune and has so much work he can (and often does) work 7 days a week. Another mate (in his 60's) just does plastering at weekends as he has a less strenuous job Mon- Fri, and he usually charges £75 per day plus cost of materials.
There's definately the work out there, but there are also lots of Eastern European workers around who are very good at their trades and will undercut any quoted price!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
BIL is a builder and pays his plasterer £150 a day. We are in London.
