We have so many very beautiful places in the UK that you would both enjoy exploring - think of areas of the country that you would like to revisit or new places to explore or events you would like to go to eg The Edinburgh fringe, the tall ships race, the Norfolk Broads, food festivals all over the place, Hogmany, last night of the proms, Edinburgh tattoo, carol services in York Minster,
Or what about different types of accommodation - from yurts, to Romany caravans to 5 star luxury hotels, canal barges, luxury boats on the Thames, railway carriages, Scottish castles ...
Or days out type activates - steam trains with meals, hot air ballooning, walking with lamas, cocktail making events, gin distilleries, posh afternoon teas in nice hotels, tourist boats down the ouse ...

Make a massive list of even the most stupid of ideas, let your imagination run wild, let it run and run and only then start to shortened it, eliminating the most silly or impossible to organise ideas ..
    Well said mhoc! xx

Seemed cooler today after a very hot night, needed to have the fan on in the bedroom:cool: So I thought I'd bake!
Anyway a nice tatre tatin made with last weeks whoopsied apricots and puff pastry,Cheese straws with the left over pastry, cherry and chocolate cupcakes (cherry & choc whitworths mix, 2 packs for 50p from our bargain shop) and used up various spreads/butter type things that have been in the fridge for months! Currently baking a rose and lemon victoria sponge! It's an experiment using the dried rose flowers from the asian supermarket, Rose water that has been in the cupboard for about 20:eek: years and then the lemon frosting that I got free!

I am now going to lie down in a cool room!! Well I will after the chicken has cooked, I've boiled the new potatoes, made croutons with the whoopsied bread and put a salad together.

:) Yes a 7 is a 7 (EU 40) & get the ones where the foot symbol is for normal foot bed - same symbol on the EVA (rubber) ones :)

Thank you for your kind thoughts about my allotment:A

I'd like to say that it was totally altruistic but it really suits me down to the ground....literally:rotfl:

I can see a difference already in the work they've done and to be honest it's great having them there. I'm in love with their little boy who is adorable. He brought his dinosaurs to see the allotment today and my heart almost melted.

I'm so motivated at the minute with lots of plans and new ideas. Essentially I am giving them a free rein but there's enough space for everyone and to be honest, I only need a handful of beds and an area for potatoes. I think we can share the fruit etc. At least I've found an answer to the glut problem:D

    Red hot here:D

I've spent hours trawling travel insurance sites for That Sister & Thank You to the suggested sites :A

Only managed to actually get one quote for £1500 :o

Other Sister says we should go somewhere nice here instead :)

    Norfolk Broads?

Insurance companies really hammer people with cancer. My DH (who is 88) has had prostate cancer for 10 years or so. He has been pretty stable and has just been on a 'watch and wait' regime with no treatment deemed necessay - his travel insurance up until recently has not been too bad and our trip to Sri lanka for just over 3 weeks earlier this yer was around £250 for both of us.

A couple of months ago his PSA level ( which has been creeping up slowly over the years) got to 95 and the Consultant decided to put him on hormone treatment for 3 months. As soon as I told the insurance people the quote for 3 weeks in November for Sri Lanka shot up to over £500 ! No reason at all to expect anything to go wrong cancer wise and its quite possible that they will take him off hormone treatment by September anyway.

Interestingly,if you go on a Saga holiday insurance is included and they cover a huge range of health conditions with no supplement. I have told them about his hormone treatment as we have a couple of weeks in Madeira booked for September and they said it made no difference at all. The way things are going it looks like we will have to stick with Saga for a while - until he is off hormones (sooner the better as he is having menopausal type hot flushes which is not good in the current hot weather !)

    Hello TM :hello:
How are your feet doing, I happened upon one of your posts from a few days ago. It's a b^gger and embarrassing with fat feet shuffling along as best as one can.

I've suffered fat feet syndrome off and on for a few years but since before our holiday I've had fat ankles and fat feet. Makes mobility nye on impossible some days as I refuse to go shopping in slippers and I'm not wearing Mr AJs plastic flip flops ever ever again  they're miles too big :o

I hope everyone is as well as can be during this heat wave. Yes. DM I know you haven't got it :p it will be with you soon,

Drink plenty water and keep in the shade as much as you can folks.

Hugs to the poorly Elite and special thoughts to those feeling low in body and mind, you're in my thoughts every day xx

My feet are fine now AJ. I made a bad shoe choice walking round the toon in the heat last week and got awful blisters which got worse before they got better:o

    Lovely to see you here:A
