2nd Mortgage applicant with 'Temporary' work

Options
Hi all,

I wondered how part time / temp work is viewed on by the mortgage companies these days? My wife has recently started a non permanent job and if her wages were taken into account, when I look at the raw figures, they would pretty much secure our application. Just using my wage is close, but not impossible.

Thanks

Just to confirm, this is our 1st mortgage application and I'm asking if the temp work can go onto it with my wife as the 2nd applicant. Thanks

Varies from lender to lender and how long she has worked in the relevant sector prior to this.

How comfortable are you undertaking a HTB mortgage with an insecure income. Mortgages should be approached with a long term view. Your other post also suggests the mortgage will run into your 70's. Extending the mortgage term to reduce outgoings in the short term merely accentuates the downsides.

Sorry, only just caught up with this. Just because the mortgage runs into my 70's doesn't mean I'm extending the term. It will be a 26 year mortgage and I expect my partner to have a permanent job in the near future, but just might not have it in time for the application that's all. I do think long term and I'm not into 'wham bam thankyou Ma'am'! We're just late bloomers that have not been able to get on the ladder for one reason or another. Now saved nearly £50k in 5 years and ready to be a FTB.

    Thanks
