I need some advice.
I have a company pension but I’m changing jobs and moving to a new employer.
My new employer is asking me to confirm my NEST pension account number, but I don’t think I have one. (They seem shocked by this).
Should I have one? Have I accidentally opted out of something i should have had all along?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

If you've never been a member of NEST you won't have a number. If you aren't sure, go the NEST website: https://www.nestpensions.org.uk/schemeweb/nest/members/your-account.html
and try logging in with your National Insurance number. You'll quickly find out if you have a NEST account.
No reason you should have one, unless a previous employer used them - and no big deal for your employer to enrol you into NEST if you don't have an account already.0 -
They seem shocked by this.
They must think NEST is the only pension company around. They aren't.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

OK so NEST isn’t the state pension?
It’s just a government created version of a company pension then?0 -
No the national insurance contributions gets you the state pension. Nest is a government enrolling scheme I think. I've been in it nearly 5 years and don't have a lot in it and the prediction is it won't even pay the council tax bill. Contributions gone up now and again next April too:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one :beer::beer:0

The NEST scheme is not the state pension.

NEST is one of many workplace pension schemes.

Your current employer may not use NEST.
What details do you have of your current scheme and what kind of pension is it?0 -

That's not the fault of the Nest scheme, it's the fault of you spending money on Safaris instead of a pension0 -

No, it's a company that can hold your personal pension contributions.It!!!8217;s just a government created version of a company pension then?
Err - sorta, but not quite. https://www.nestpensions.org.uk/schemeweb/nest/nestcorporation.htmlAs a non-departmental public body NEST Corporation is accountable to Parliament through the Department for Work and Pensions but is generally independent of government in its day-to-day decisions.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

My current employer scheme is a defined contribution scheme run by Aviva.
You can check on whether you can leave the pension with Aviva after you change jobs.
It is possible to transfer pensions into the Nest Scheme.0
