If you must gamble, do so responsibly. If you're placing a few quid every now and then it's ok.
If you are gambling with hundreds it will set off alarm bells with lenders.
I'd recommend not gambling at all for 6 months prior to application.
If you won the £1k from, say a £2 accumulator, you'll have no problem. If you won it from a £500 evens bet then you need to speak to a broker about it as lots of lenders will run a mile as you could have lost a lot of money and I'd recommend looking at stopping if that was the case!0 -
if you paid cash for a bet how will anyone know about it0

If you bet small, they won't. If you bet big, then you'll have multiple high cash withdrawals and deposits which will stick out like a sore thumb!
If it's the first, not a problem, if it's the later, then getting a mortgage will eventually become the least of your problems!0 -
If I sell a lot of high value items or multiple items that I no longer use, and trust me I!!!8217;m about to declutter before we move , and I put that money in my account it will affect my credit score , plus I sometime draw out large amounts when we are going away for weekends and use it for fuel etc
Or I may just leave it in the house for when needed save going bank a lot
So this could be seen as having a gambling addiction , I don!!!8217;t understand , some people still use cash as opposed to cards0 -
Oh forgot to add I don!!!8217;t gamble ,
But I sometimes pay cash for items I may buy off someone else ie: 2nd hand0 -
Firstly, Credit agencies don't / can't report positive balances on accounts.
Secondly, how would a lender know the transactions going through your account, unless you agree to share this information with them?
I've gambled heavily in the past, with large cash withdrawals / deposits and card transactions to casinos. Never had a problem with getting a mortgage, never been asked about bank account transactions.
So think you're been overall concerned about nothing...0
