Baby aisle cotton buds

Remember a couple of years ago MSE wrote an article about how some items are cheaper in different aisles of the supermarket, e.g. cotton buds were cheaper in the baby section?

I quote: We found a pack of 300 cotton buds for 55p in the baby aisle at Tesco. The buds look and feel the same as the pack of 200 that cost £1.50 in the cosmetics aisle, effectively making the baby aisle 75% cheaper – 18p per 100 buds compared with 75p per 100 in the cosmetics aisle.

Shops dutifully responded and lowered prices so the buds were the same price no matter which aisle you shopped.

Now we've all forgotten about it, Tesco have gone back and changed the prices! The best value option in the baby aisle are now 45p for 100 buds! I know inflation happens but they've almost tripled in price!

:naughty:  :wall:

All part of the modern socialist experiment. Why should those of us who put in the effort be allowed be benefit financially while those who can't be bothered pay more? It's gradually affecting more and more areas, not just food shopping.
Insurance, energy and a few other areas that it's to early to call to mind. While some areas have had this done to benefit those often less able to do their own research, such as the elderly, it does of course benefit the bone idle too, all at the expense of the money-saver.

The problem with the idea is the money-savers who are often the poor ones, are helping the rich by lowering their costs, so in that respect MSE has been more of a benefit to the rich person.

That's my early morning take on it anyway.

Don't worry , they are getting banned next year if they involve any plastic so prices will probably keep rising

Like £1 fares on Megabus? Because not many were available, people complained. Because they complained the £1 fares seem to have disappeared.

Most I see now have paper sticks and not plastic. Not seen much difference in price either.

Something I discovered completely by accident today: Things like paracetamol are much more expensive in the normal supermarket aisles than in the pharmacy concessions (I've always assumed it the other way round). Something to do with the way supermarkets are licensed vs the proper pharmacy chains

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
