And of course there's all the subsequent cashback, dual fuel discount, direct debit discount, paperfree discount and whatever else that can make a huge difference to the final outcome. As one thing is done to simplify, the companies will look for other ways to market to and confuse the public. Sadly some "savvy savers" are blind to this level of manipulation.0

This also assumes you are at home all year equally. We are away for maybe up to 4 months of the year but not all at once. The cheapest for me would actually be to switch to ebico every time I'm away for a month or more (to pay 0 standing charge) then switch to another provider, but that's far too much hassle.0
