Transferring a private pension into NHS pension

Options
I've got a private pension with Phoenix life (formally Pearl) which I don't pay into anymore and has about £6000 of transferable funds. I've been paying into my NHS pension for 15 years I'm 50 & wondering if it's a good idea to transfer the £6000 into the NHS or are there better options

By all means check, but I'm fairly certain that the NHS (like the LGPS) has a 12 month limit on transfers in.

ADD: Just googled it and, yes, you would have had to at least started the transfer in procedure in your first 12 months of NHS membership.
