Segedunum, meaning ‘strong fort’, was built to guard the eastern end of Hadrian’s Wall, housing 600 Roman soldiers and standing for 300 years as a symbol of Roman rule and a bastion against barbarian attack. Today, Segedunum is the most excavated fort along the Wall, home to a large interactive museum and a 35-metre high viewing tower affording spectacular views across the World Heritage Site.
With plenty of events and activities on throughout the year, it’s an ideal destination for a fun and educational family day out. We’re giving away two adult season tickets which grant one year’s unlimited entry to the Fort – and children under 16 go free.
