I have someone who is going back to work after a long period
ANd want to know as she does not have her old P45 will the person have any problems?

She doesnt need a p45, An old one is of no use what so ever.
She will get a form from her new employer to complete.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

P45 used to expire after 6 months anyway. Once over you would fill in a P46 but since they all went electronic I think they replaced the form with something else, our place calls it a starter form.0

a P45 is live until, and then dead on, the 6th April every year because it is nothing more than a record of the income earned and tax paid in the tax year in which it is issued.
Start a new job on the first day of the next tax year (6th April) and the P45 is irrelevant.0 -

This covers all possibilities of P45s whatever their age. One possibility not commonly known about is someone starting new employment before the 25th of May with a P45 dated in the previous tax year. In this case if the tax code is an L code it is up-rated (by the budget increase ) and used on an accumulative basis.0
