Split ticketing season ticket loophole help!

So my husbands season ticket is up for renewal ( margate to wandsworth using southeastern services) and we are considering split ticketing the season ticket at new cross. His train doesn't actually stop at new cross, but according to an article in Kent life in December last year it doesn't need to.
Its considerably cheaper to do this. However both of us are very nervous to try it, there seem to be no option to try it out for a week, and we are terrified of getting fined or the loophole being changed. I suppose I'm asking if anyone out there uses this loophole and has reassuring stories or can shed more light on it!

It's not a loophole. It's specifically allowed under the rules of the railway:

Section 14.2
If you need reassurance, post on railforums.co.uk and one of the experts there will help.0 -

But you really don't need to do that, as Stragglebod is right... this is a perfectly valid arrangement.0 -
As long as the train goes through New Cross, it doesn’t need to stop there. Are there any trains from Margate that go to Wandsworth via New Cross?0
