My post had a few caveats as all necessary information was not provided in the op such as any COPE amount.

As you say - perhaps the OP will clarify.

Interestingly at the age of 52 he is already in receipt of a pension and has been at least since 2014.

Ex Armed Forces? Mr S and I have been in receipt of our pensions since we were 47/44 respectively.

Hi yes thanks for linking a few things. What do I need to clarify again? I'm in receipt of a final salary pension as you state since 2013...I also have a DB 1964 Barclays pension that was subject of another thread that is untouched as yet.(which you were kind enough to advise me on)

    Cheers

Does your SP forecast show a COPE amount ? It is a strange coincidence that your currently earned amount is exactly 32/35ths of the full pension if based on the old 30 year rules. A COPE amount / contracted out history is the defining factor on whether pre 2016 contributions will add value.

I can't see anything relating to COPE on the record. Is there anywhere I should be looking ?

    It states this

You need to continue to contribute National Insurance to reach your forecast

Estimate based on your National Insurance record up to 5 April 2016
    £145.88 a week

Forecast if you contribute another 3 years before 5 April 2032
    £159.55 a week

£159.55 is the most you can get

There should be a heading "You've been in a contracted-out pension scheme" with a link.

You would seem to have a problem then.

You need to contact the NI records office and get them to check on your contracted out status. You could also contact your pension providers to confirm that the schemes were contracted out, 99.99% chance they were..
