Sorry if this is the wrong board.
Am making traditional Christmas dinner for 7 but one is a vegetarian
Can someone recommend a main dish for one instead of the Turkey etc?
I have been looking at the supermarket Xmas food brochures but most seem to be a cheesy type dish or something like nut roast.
I saw some little pastry parcels in Asda filled with Jack fruit and mushrooms which looked nice. Has anyone had Jack fruit and is it nice?
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

I am Vegan but haven't tried Jackfruit, but everyone I know who has (a LOT of Vegans) love it, apparently it's quite meaty? It is definitely popular & one I plan to try! Tofurky may be an option, it has stuffing in, but not sure how nice it is x0

As a vegetarian, I love lentils.
How about a lentil nut roast, served with roasted vegetables: squash, brussels sprout, snap peas with red onions, tomatoes and peppers.
Lentil Nut Roast: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/nut-loaf
Bake a satisfying vegetarian loaf with lentils, chestnut, mushrooms and cheese to go with all the classic roast
dinner trimmings
The roast can be cooked the day before and warm up the next day0 -
Is there a nice dish I can BUY that I can serve with the traditional Xmas veg etc (excluding the meat items)?
I don't want to be having to "make" an extra recipe as well as all the other stuff.
I thought I could use veggie cheese in the cauli cheese dish and veggie stuffing, gravy etc.
So, something that would go with everything else.0 -

I buy M&S veggie ready meals for veggie friends - they always seem to go down well.0 -

I would suggest that you ask your veggie guest what kind of thing they would like, just in case they aren't keen on meaty style dishes.
Personally, I don't like dried fruit and some veggie dishes have raisins, apricots or cranberries in.
Aldi have got some nice things available and not too pricey.
