They have had ten years to make plans. Also if really in need can claim the PC so how many of the 11,000 are really impacted? This is a bit like WASPI.Paddle No 21:wave:0

Perhaps their non-working, below pension age dependents could, well, get a job. Instead of expecting the state to finance their life of butt sitting.

Already talked about on the Discussion Time board.
Those affected will have one partner who is 10+ years younger than the other. This rule just stops the loophole of paying the equivalent of the State pension to someone (who would have been early/mid 50s or even younger in 2010) just because they happen to be married to a much older person.0 -

What's like WASPI? The MSE article simply states the facts and there's no sign of any protest group trying to reverse the changes. Even the Facebook comments underneath the article aren't protesting the change (most are asking unrelated questions about their own State Pension to the void).
The only dissent is from Steve Webb (who will comment on anything for dolla): "It will come as a nasty shock to thousands of people to see their state pension cut by up to £70 per week. It seems penny-pinching of the Government to take this money away when the addition is gradually working its way out of the system in any case. Losing over £3,500 per year overnight will make a material difference to the standard of living of those who are affected."
Whether it qualifies as a "nasty shock" is debatable, but it's not as if he's putting on a lilac sash and marching on Downing Street with a first-class rail ticket and a bottle of champers in hand.0 -

They have had plenty of time - more like 12 or 13 years since the announcements and legislation.
Unfortunately though they won't be able to claim pension credit to make up the shortfall, unless they are already claiming PC or pension age housing benefit, as the benefit for 'mixed age couples' is now Universal Credit.0 -
