I did a bit of frittering today :o.

I went into town and bought DS3 a bath mat for his flat at uni as he's been using one of his towels. They had 20% off homewares in MnS so the bath mat cost £7.65 instead of £9.50. So far so good.

But then the frittering started :o. I went into D3benhams and they were also doing 20% off homewares, so I bought a Jasper Conran kitchen roll holder. It was £20 originally but the 20% off made it cheaper, and it had a mark on it so I asked them to give me a discount and they knocked another 20% off. So it cost £12 instead of £20. We did need one because our kitchen roll sits on the counter, but I still feel a bit guilty :o. Then I bought two mugs which I definitely didn't need but liked. I got 20% off those so they were £5.60 each instead of £7 each.

So I spent a total of £7.65 in MnS and £24 in D3benahms :o. After that I came home quickly before I could buy anything else. I'm probably indulging in retail therapy after my emotional weekend, but I don't want to keep frittering. The kitchen roll holder and mugs are lovely though :).

have you ever used music magpie or ziffit? it might kick start those premium bonds

No I've never used those INOD. Are they survey sites? I'm nearly at £10 on PA.

This afternoon I'm going to look for more books to de-clutter and then re-organise the ones I want to keep. I've got eight bags and two rucksacks full in the hall already as I sorted out another two bag fulls this morning! I wonder how many more I'll find that I don't want to keep :).

EDIT: I now have fifteen bags and two rucksacks full of books so I estimate it to be another 204 books  :T. Unfortunately DH is too busy to drop them at the charity shop today so they're cluttering up the hall floor at the moment.

I feel like I need to keep going while I'm in the right frame of mind, plus I know I'll never get time once term begins again. So I'm going to fight through the tiredness and keep going!

I've googled Music Magpie and Ziffit INOD. To be honest I just want to get the books out of the house as quickly as possible for the sake of my mental health. I feel very weighed down by physical possesions at the moment and getting rid of things quickly is very therapeutic. But thanks for the suggestion :).

Also, with the minimum purchase having gone down from a ridiculous £100 to a very sensible £25, they are much more accessible to those with only small amounts to invest. I would say - go for it !!

Yes, the last time I looked into PB's for a christening gift I was shocked you had to spend £100. Didn't realise they'd gone down to £25. Definitely much more do-able. Think I'll be looking into this in the future as well. xx

I agree that £25 would be more doable. I would be unlikely to feel I could invest £100 in one go.

I think I've finally finished de-cluttering my books collection :T.

216 dropped off yesterday and another 204 bagged up and ready to go  :T. I still have plenty of books left believe it or not (I dread to think how much they all cost _pale_ but they were all from the charity shop). I feel like my book collection is more manageable now and when I can get time, hopefully later this week, I'll re-arrange my remaining books in a more organised way to maximise space in the house.

What a marathon effort. I feel completely shattered now, but it's a job well done and space is appearing all over the house :T.

I think that every time I'm tempted to buy an item of clothing or anything that isn't essential, I should buy a £25 premium bond instead. That way I would still be buying something and it might feed my urge to spend money, but I'd be buying something that could win me money and which I could sell and get the money back if I wanted to .

That way the more money I spent, the more money I would have. The more I think about it the smarter it seems .
